Siedle is giving the mobile video intercom Siedle Scope a whole new inner life – and also adding a new app for the In-Home bus. With this move, the manufacturer is combining the benefits of both technologies for reliable mobile door communication.
With this new technical basis, Siedle is extending the application spectrum and functionality of the mobile video intercom. New features are repeaters to increase the range, optimized video quality and video memory, software administration, the user interface and network connection. Added to these are additional functions such as for example the hotel mode and hearing aid compatibility.
Siedle Scope offers an innovative combination for mobile video door communication with the new app for the In-Home bus. This is available free of charge in the App Store. A gateway to the IP network is included in the scope of supply. The proven characteristics remain: Siedle Scope is still the only mobile video call station operating on a DECT basis which is a cordless landline phone at the same time.
By linking both technologies, Siedle combines the benefits of DECT with mobile applications. The proven standard DECT can be installed and commissioned with a minimum of planning work, and is superior to WiFi or mobile phone applications in a number of areas: In terms of audio quality, susceptibility to faults, availability and standby time. Conversely, mobile applications are popular, highly convenient for the customer and consequently a strong argument in favour of a video intercom.
Greater range, better video quality
The transmission ranges required call for stable radio links, particularly in complex building environments. Siedle achieves this with the new Scope repeater, which significantly amplifies the radio signal if required. Up to six repeaters can be operated in parallel.
Siedle has also improved the video quality. The newly developed technology uses the DECT standard even more efficiently, transfers more data and so optimizes the resolution and depiction of the real-time video image. The new video memory manages up to 50 photos.
Operation, data exchange and administration
Siedle has developed a totally new user interface for Scope. The start screen supplies an overview of the most important functions, a cross-shaped control element is used for navigation. Duplex intercom system, landline telephone, video memory as well as switching and control functions can be intuitively operated. In future, telephone contacts can be transmitted from one cordless handset to the next; either from one device to the next or using the new administration software. The integrated directory stores around 1,600 call numbers, and up to three for each contact.
It is still possible to edit using the telephone keypad, but no longer necessary. The browser-based, platform-independent administration software makes configuration both simple and convenient.
Network connection and app
The new Scope base station serves simultaneously as an IP gateway, the link to the IP network is established using a LAN connection. The network connection also allows future software updates.
Using the new base station, the In-Home bus from Siedle can also be linked to the latest iPhone and iPad generation, initially for the local WiFi, but later also over the mobile phone network. The new app was developed by the manufacturer specifically to address the demands of door communication; its functionality corresponds to that of a Siedle indoor station. Video and audio links are available immediately and simultaneously once the connection has been established. The speech quality fulfils Siedle's stringent standards. The door is released as usual by pressing on the symbol with a fingertip. An additional enquiry prevents unwanted operating errors, transmission of the door release is secured by an electronic signature.
The new Scope is planned for delivery from April, the new Siedle app will be available from the App Store at the same time. Extension of the app for mobile networks will take place by means of an update at a later juncture.
Siedle will be supporting the market launch with a comprehensive communication campaign and a sales drive for sales partners.
